Job Description:

Ali & Sons Contracting LLC is seeking an experienced Structural Draftsman to join our team in Ras Al Khaimah. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in structural drafting, excellent CAD skills, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Data Collection & Design:

Obtain and assemble data to complete architectural designs.

Visit job sites to compile necessary measurements.

Draw rough and detailed scale plans for foundations, buildings, and structures based on preliminary concepts, sketches, engineering calculations, specification sheets, and other data.

CAD & Drafting:

Lay out and plan interior room arrangements for commercial buildings using computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment and software.

Create freehand drawings and lettering to accompany CAD drawings.

Project Coordination & Supervision:

Supervise, coordinate, and inspect the work of draftspersons and technicians on construction projects.

Represent the architectural engineer/construction manager on site, ensuring builder compliance with design specifications and advising on design corrections under the architectural engineer’s supervision.

Materials & Procedures:

Check dimensions of materials to be used and assign numbers to lists of materials.

Determine procedures and instructions to be followed according to design specifications and the quantity of required materials.

Technical Analysis & Calculations:

Analyze the technical implications of the architectural engineer’s design concepts, calculating weights, volumes, and stress factors.

Calculate heat loss and gain of buildings and structures to determine required equipment specifications.

Documentation & Reporting:

Prepare cost estimates, contracts, bidding documents, and technical reports for specific projects under an architectural engineer’s supervision.

Prepare and update shop drawings as per design drawing, RFIs, and design changes.

Compliance & Standards:

Analyze building codes, by-laws, space, and site requirements, and other technical documents and reports to determine their effect on architectural designs.

Operate computer-aided drafting equipment or conventional drafting stations to produce designs, working drawings, charts, forms, and records.

Coordinate structural, electrical, and mechanical designs and determine a method of presentation to graphically represent building plans.

Desired Candidate Profile:

Experience:

7 to 10 years of relevant experience in structural drafting and CAD.

Skills:

Proficiency in CAD software and conventional drafting techniques.

Strong analytical skills with the ability to calculate weights, volumes, and stress factors.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Education:

A Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.
