Role Overview:

The Site Inspector (Civil) plays a crucial role in overseeing and coordinating field inspection activities on construction sites. The role involves ensuring that all construction works comply with job specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations. The Site Inspector works closely with Project Managers, Planning Engineers, and other stakeholders to monitor project progress, address technical and contractual issues, and support the successful completion of infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Pre-Construction Phase:

Review the contractor’s work program to ensure alignment with project timelines and objectives.

Evaluate contractors’ submittals, including staffing proposals, organization charts, shop drawings, method statements, project procedures, and traffic management plans.

Construction Phase:

Conduct thorough reviews of construction drawings, specifications, standard details, and other relevant information to ensure adherence to quality and workmanship standards.

Collaborate with Planning Engineers to monitor daily activities on-site, such as concrete pouring and installations, ensuring resources are allocated effectively.

Oversee construction work inspections in response to contractors' Requests for Inspections (RFIs), identifying and documenting any reasons for rejection of work.

Assist site inspectors in conducting quality inspections of contractors and subcontractors, and address quality issues as necessary.

Monitor and enforce the implementation of quality non-conformities action plans on construction sites.

Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE):

Support HSE Engineers in enforcing and monitoring the implementation of HSE procedures on construction sites.

Record and address HSE non-conformities, ensuring a safe working environment for all site personnel.

Materials Testing and Quality Assurance:

Assist the Materials Engineer in supervising the testing of materials and checking material samples against specifications and standards.

Ensure that all materials used in construction meet the required quality standards.

Project Management Support:

Collaborate with project teams to review, assess, and respond to claims raised by contractors concerning scope, schedule, and cost changes.

Provide support during the hand-over and defects liability period, including preparing commissioning reports and conducting final inspections of works.

Assist in preparing lists of snags and monitoring the contractor’s rectification of these issues during the Defects Liability Period.

Documentation and Reporting:

Assist in the preparation and issuance of Take-Over Certificates and Defect Liability Certificates.

Provide input to Planning Engineers for the development of project progress reports.

Requirements:

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering.

Experience:

Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction supervision and site inspections.

Extensive experience in infrastructure projects, particularly in bridges, roads, and highways.

Proven experience with site inspections on large-scale supervision sites, including inspection of work progress, quality inspections, and HSE inspections.

Skills:

Strong understanding of construction supervision services and international engineering standards and codes.

Excellent communication and organizational skills with a strong attention to detail.

Proficiency in spoken and written Arabic and English.
