Job Description
Role Overview – University Hospital Sharjah is hiring a Senior Project Engineer for a full-time, on-site role based in Sharjah, UAE. This position is ideal for experienced engineering professionals with strong project management capabilities, technical expertise in healthcare facilities, and the ability to lead engineering projects, coordinate MEP systems, manage infrastructure improvements, and ensure successful project delivery within a hospital and healthcare environment.
Project Planning and Execution – You will lead project planning and execution by defining project scope, developing detailed engineering plans, establishing timelines and milestones, coordinating technical specifications, managing project workflows, and ensuring successful delivery of hospital infrastructure, MEP, medical equipment, and facility improvement projects on time and within budget.
MEP Systems Coordination and Management – You will coordinate and manage MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) systems by overseeing HVAC installations and upgrades, electrical power distribution, medical gas systems, plumbing and drainage, fire protection systems, ensuring compliance with healthcare engineering standards, and maintaining critical hospital infrastructure.
Medical Equipment Projects – You will manage medical equipment projects by coordinating medical equipment installations (imaging equipment, surgical systems, diagnostic machines, patient monitoring systems), liaising with equipment vendors and manufacturers, ensuring proper installation, commissioning, and integration with hospital systems.
Healthcare Facility Regulations and Compliance – You will ensure compliance with healthcare facility regulations by adhering to MOHAP (Ministry of Health and Prevention) standards, Sharjah health authority requirements, infection control standards, medical gas regulations, fire and life safety codes, and ensuring all engineering projects meet healthcare facility compliance requirements.
Design Review and Technical Coordination – You will review designs and coordinate technical aspects by evaluating engineering drawings and specifications, coordinating with architects and consultants, reviewing shop drawings, conducting design reviews, identifying conflicts, and ensuring designs are constructible and compliant with hospital requirements.
Contractor and Vendor Management – You will manage contractors and vendors by selecting qualified contractors, coordinating construction activities, monitoring contractor performance, conducting site inspections, resolving technical issues, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring quality workmanship and adherence to specifications.
Budget and Cost Management – You will manage project budgets and costs by preparing cost estimates, tracking expenditures, controlling project costs, identifying cost-saving opportunities, managing change orders, and ensuring projects are delivered within approved budgets while maintaining quality standards.
Critical Infrastructure and BMS – You will manage critical infrastructure and Building Management Systems (BMS) by overseeing UPS systems, emergency power generators, HVAC automation, BMS programming and optimization, monitoring and control systems, and ensuring reliable operation of critical hospital infrastructure.
