Position Overview

As a Senior Legal & Risk Manager - Technology, you will serve as a trusted advisor to DME-C and engagement leadership on strategic contract matters during the delivery of large-scale, high-risk engagements across various sectors in the Middle East. This role is crucial in managing legal contracting risk, deal structuring, and addressing deviations during the course of engagements.

Key Responsibilities

Contract Management: Develop a deep understanding of DME-C contracts, perform legal risk assessments, and manage legal contracting risks. Review and negotiate technology contracts, including application, cloud, and infrastructure operate services, as well as Master Service Agreements and Framework Agreements.

Advisory Role: Act as a senior leader within the Quality and Risk Management team, advising DME-C’s senior management and practitioners on legal and risk management issues. Assist with legal policy changes and maintain Deloitte’s contractual templates and policies.

Client Engagement: Negotiate high-value contracts and provide legal opinions on complex compliance matters, ensuring that legal concepts are communicated effectively to the project team and stakeholders.

Compliance and Procedures: Respond to legal, jurisdictional, and regulatory changes by reviewing existing policies and developing new ones. Draft, implement, and maintain standard contracting templates, procedures, and processes.

Stakeholder Management: Build strong relationships with senior-level executives, large engagement teams, and client procurement, finance, or legal teams. Develop practical commercial solutions that enable Deloitte’s business and client service teams to manage risk effectively.

Qualifications/Requirements

Essential:

Education: Undergraduate and/or Postgraduate degree in Law from a reputable university. Qualified lawyer with 15+ years of post-qualification experience in negotiating commercial contracts, including at least 5 years of experience with technology contracts, ideally in a professional services organization or technology services provider.

Leadership: Experience leading a team of specialists or lawyers, and influencing multiple senior stakeholders.

Client Engagement: Proven experience working with clients, negotiating high-value contracts, supporting high-value projects, and advising on complex compliance matters.

Risk Management: Ability to assess risk areas quickly and recommend mitigation strategies, with a strong commercial understanding of engagement deal economics and profitability levers.

Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate legal concepts into plain language.

Technical Proficiency: Good level of technical proficiency and computer literacy, particularly with spreadsheets (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Work Ethic: Self-motivated, capable of managing a demanding workload effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Desirable:

Broader experience managing technology delivery engagements/contracting, including digital and data, systems/cloud contracting, and large platforms contracting.

Project management experience on large-scale consulting/professional services engagements.

Experience with contract management systems and knowledge of international and Middle East jurisdictional laws, including data protection laws.

Fluency in Arabic is an advantage.
