Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Instrument Design Engineer to join our team in Kuwait. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in feed and detail engineering for oil and gas projects, with a strong background in instrumentation systems design.
Key Responsibilities
Lead instrument design activities for oil and gas facilities, including field instrumentation, control systems, and safety systems
Develop and review instrumentation engineering deliverables, including P&IDs, loop diagrams, and instrument datasheets
Prepare technical specifications for procurement of instrumentation and control system equipment
Conduct HAZOP/SIL studies and implement safety instrumented systems
Review vendor documents and coordinate with suppliers for instrumentation packages
Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and coordinate with multi-discipline teams
Perform site surveys and field verifications during project execution
Ensure compliance with international standards (ISA, IEC, API) and client specifications
Troubleshoot complex instrumentation issues during commissioning and startup
Develop instrument installation details and hook-up drawings
Manage instrument database and documentation control
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field
Minimum 12 years of experience in oil and gas projects, with focus on instrumentation design
Proven experience in FEED and detailed engineering phases
Strong knowledge of DCS, PLC, SCADA systems, and field instrumentation
Proficiency in relevant design software and engineering tools
Experience with hazardous area classification and intrinsically safe design
Knowledge of international codes and standards (ISA, IEC, API)
Previous experience in Kuwait oil and gas projects is highly preferred
Technical Skills
Proficiency in AutoCAD, SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI), or similar design tools
Experience with control system platforms (Honeywell, Yokogawa, Emerson, etc.)
Knowledge of instrument sizing calculations and specifications
Understanding of process control loops and control strategies
Familiarity with instrument calibration and testing procedures
