Role Overview – 9Cents Company is hiring a Senior Accountant for a full-time, on-Site role based in Port Louis, Mauritius. This position is ideal for experienced accounting professionals with strong technical accounting skills, financial reporting expertise, and the ability to manage complex accounting operations, lead financial processes, mentor junior staff, and provide strategic financial insights within a dynamic business environment.

General Ledger and Financial Accounting – You will manage the general ledger by recording and posting financial transactions, maintaining the chart of accounts, preparing complex journal entries, reconciling accounts, managing intercompany transactions, and ensuring all financial data is accurate, complete, and compliant with IFRS and Mauritius accounting standards.

Financial Reporting and Analysis – You will prepare financial reports and analysis by consolidating financial data, preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, conducting variance analysis, analyzing financial performance, identifying trends and anomalies, preparing management accounts, and providing actionable insights to support strategic decision-making.

Month-End and Year-End Close – You will lead month-end and year-end closing processes by coordinating closing activities, ensuring all transactions are recorded, preparing accruals and prepayments, reconciling balance sheet accounts, managing consolidation processes, meeting reporting deadlines, and ensuring timely, accurate financial close.

Budgeting and Forecasting Support – You will support budgeting and forecasting by assisting with budget preparation, coordinating budget submissions from departments, preparing financial forecasts, conducting budget variance analysis, monitoring actual performance against budgets, and providing financial planning insights to management.

Accounts Payable and Receivable Oversight – You will oversee accounts payable and receivable operations by managing invoice processing workflows, ensuring timely supplier payments, monitoring customer collections, managing aging reports, coordinating credit control activities, resolving payment discrepancies, and optimizing working capital management.

Bank Reconciliation and Cash Management – You will manage bank reconciliations and cash management by performing complex bank reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies, monitoring cash flow, preparing cash forecasts, coordinating with treasury on liquidity management, and ensuring accurate cash accounting.

Tax Compliance and Management – You will handle tax compliance and management by preparing corporate tax returns, managing VAT/GST compliance, coordinating with Mauritius Revenue Authority (MRA), ensuring compliance with Income Tax Act and VAT Act, preparing tax computations, managing tax payments, and coordinating with tax advisors on tax planning and optimization.

Audit Coordination and Management – You will coordinate and manage audits by liaising with external auditors, preparing audit schedules and documentation, responding to audit queries, implementing audit recommendations, facilitating statutory audits, coordinating internal audits, and ensuring successful completion of all audit activities.

Financial Controls and Compliance – You will establish and maintain financial controls by implementing internal control procedures, conducting control reviews, ensuring compliance with accounting standards (IFRS), adhering to Mauritius regulatory requirements, maintaining audit trails, and protecting company assets through robust financial controls.
