Job Description:

Michael Page is seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join our client's finance team in the UAE. The selected individual will play a crucial role in overseeing the financial operations and ensuring compliance with all financial regulations. This role involves working closely with senior finance professionals, managing a team of accountants, and actively participating in audits and tax filings.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Operations Management:

Accounting Oversight: Oversee general accounting operations by controlling and verifying financial transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Account Reconciliation: Reconcile account balances and bank statements, ensuring that discrepancies are resolved promptly.

Month-End Close: Lead the month-end close procedures, ensuring that all financial data is accurate and timely.

Invoicing and Accounts Receivable:

Charter Invoicing: Manage the invoicing process for charter services, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in billing.

Accounts Receivable Management: Oversee the accounts receivable process, ensuring prompt collection of payments and resolving any issues that arise.

Budgeting and Financial Forecasting:

Budget Development: Develop and monitor budgets, forecast financial performance, and identify opportunities for cost savings.

Financial Compliance: Ensure compliance with all financial regulations, including International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and UAE tax laws.

Audit and Tax Compliance:

Audit Participation: Actively participate in internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and information to auditors.

Tax Filings: Ensure timely and accurate submission of tax filings, working closely with external tax agents.

Team Management:

Team Leadership: Manage and develop a team of accounting professionals, including providing training, delegating tasks, and offering guidance.

Employee Training: Train new employees on basic invoicing and accounts receivable procedures to ensure consistency and accuracy.

Reporting and Analysis:

Financial Reporting: Assist senior management in preparing detailed financial reports, providing insights and recommendations based on financial analysis.

General Accounting Duties: Perform other general accounting duties as needed to support the finance department.

Requirements:

Education and Certification:

Relevant certification such as Chartered Accountant (CA) or Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) is highly preferred.

Degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is required.

Experience:

At least three years of experience in a Big Four accounting firm or an international company.

Hands-on experience with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) is essential.

Technical Skills:

Familiarity with financial software such as Dynamics 365 is preferred.

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook, with expertise in VLOOKUP and pivot tables.

Leadership and Communication:

Strong analytical, communication, and leadership abilities are required to manage responsibilities effectively.

Ability to maintain confidentiality of financial information and resolve payment issues with external accounting staff.
