Job Description / Role

The Electrician - Power is responsible for carrying out installation, maintenance (preventive and corrective), troubleshooting, repair, and testing of plant electrical equipment. This role aims to achieve effective functionality, reliability, and efficiency in accordance with established schedules to support daily maintenance plans as directed by the Foreman - Power, while ensuring compliance with Best-Practice guidelines and applicable QHSSE policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

Electrical Repair and Maintenance:

Perform all electrical repair work and emergency call-out tasks on plant electrical equipment.

Conduct troubleshooting, repair, and regular preventative maintenance on plant electrical equipment and motors (Low and Medium Voltage).

Repair Low and Medium Voltage circuit breakers, transformers, coils, and other related equipment.

Equipment Monitoring:

Monitor and maintain all power equipment in good working condition, including low, medium, and high voltage electrical networks, cage motors, wound rotor motors, transformers, high tension cut-off systems, central control room boards, frequency converters, and diagnostic tools for insulation measurement.

Installation and Repairs:

Perform hands-on installation and repairs of electrical power and lighting systems, control circuitry, and other building electrical systems.

Maintain and repair emergency generator controls, HVAC power and controls, mechanical pump power and controls, fire alarm system controls and devices, panel boards, UPS systems, automatic transfer switches, relay controls, programmable control systems for switchgear, medium voltage transformers, motor control centers, convenience outlet power circuits, lighting fixtures, and lighting control circuits.

Major Repairs and Overhauls:

Carry out major motor repairs and perform overhauls while identifying and ensuring the correct application of spare parts to meet operational requirements as per defined specifications.

Modifications and Interpretations:

Make modifications to existing equipment in accordance with the planned maintenance schedule under the supervision of the Foreman - Power.

Read and interpret simple machine sketches and diagnoses flow charts as necessary, using a variety of hand and pneumatic tools to ensure effective completion of tasks as per defined quality standards and parameters.

Tool and Equipment Usage:

Select and use the correct tools and equipment for specific jobs, including pneumatic and hand tools, measurement and testing equipment as per operating procedures and instructions.

Housekeeping and Documentation:

Perform housekeeping during and after completion of jobs.

Follow all relevant departmental policies, processes, standard operating procedures, and instructions to ensure work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.

Maintain a logbook as per company policies and procedures.

Comply with the company QHSSE approved policy.

Perform any additional duties and responsibilities as directed by superiors.

Requirements

Education:

Minimum primary school certification.

Experience:

Minimum 6 years of experience in a similar field working with the same equipment within the industry, depending on the level of education.

Certification:

Trade certificate/license related to the function.

Skills:

Basic English language proficiency.

Ability to interpret simple machine diagrams, manuals, and drawings related to the trade.

Result-oriented.

Strong teamwork skills.

Problem-solving skills.

Resilience to work pressure.
