Microbiologist

Job Description

Role Overview: The Microbiologist will play a key role in the diagnostics process within our state-of-the-art veterinary laboratory. The position is suited for professionals with strong analytical abilities and a passion for improving animal health through laboratory science. You will be responsible for conducting tests, analyzing results, and contributing to the accurate identification of microorganisms impacting animal health.

Key Responsibilities: You will be responsible for processing samples, isolating microorganisms, and conducting antimicrobial sensitivity testing. This includes preparing cultures, interpreting laboratory data, and ensuring accurate documentation in the laboratory information system. You will maintain laboratory standards and follow established biosafety protocols in accordance with veterinary diagnostic regulations.

Daily Laboratory Operations: The role requires strict attention to detail and consistent adherence to lab protocols. You will be involved in routine maintenance and calibration of laboratory instruments, inventory control of consumables, and supporting internal quality control measures. Your daily activities will contribute directly to improving diagnostic turnaround time.

Collaboration and Reporting: You will work closely with veterinarians and lab technicians to interpret results and guide decision-making for treatment strategies. Reporting results in a clear and timely manner will be an essential part of your responsibilities, as will attending team meetings and participating in lab audits.

Research and Development: The Microbiologist may occasionally be involved in research initiatives aimed at enhancing our diagnostic capabilities. This includes assisting in validation of new testing methods and staying updated with the latest advancements in veterinary microbiology.

Compliance and Standards: The role demands strict compliance with local and international laboratory standards. You will also participate in internal and external audits, and contribute to improving standard operating procedures in alignment with quality assurance guidelines.
