Job Description

Position Overview: The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for the maintenance, optimization, and troubleshooting of mechanical systems and equipment within our food processing facility. This role requires expertise in meat processing equipment, refrigeration systems, steam systems, and compressed air systems to ensure efficient and reliable operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the maintenance and repair of meat processing equipment, including grinders, slicers, and mixers, to ensure optimal performance.

• Manage and troubleshoot refrigeration systems, ensuring proper temperature control and compliance with industry standards.

• Maintain and optimize steam systems, including boilers and associated infrastructure, to support production processes.

• Oversee the maintenance and functionality of compressed air systems used throughout the facility.

• Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance on mechanical systems to minimize downtime and enhance efficiency.

• Diagnose and resolve mechanical issues in a timely manner to prevent disruptions to production.

• Collaborate with the engineering team to implement improvements and upgrades to existing systems and equipment.

• Ensure all mechanical work adheres to safety regulations and industry compliance standards.

• Document maintenance activities, system performance, and any issues, providing detailed reports as required.

• Assist with the installation, commissioning, and calibration of new mechanical equipment and systems.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

• Proven experience as a Mechanical Engineer in a food manufacturing environment, with a focus on meat processing equipment.

• Strong knowledge of refrigeration systems, steam systems, and compressed air systems.

• Expertise in troubleshooting and maintaining complex mechanical systems.

• Familiarity with industry-specific safety and compliance standards.

• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with various departments and stakeholders.

• Proficiency in using mechanical diagnostic and testing tools.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with automated meat processing machinery and systems.

• Certification or training related to mechanical system safety and compliance.

• Knowledge of industry regulations related to food safety and equipment maintenance.
