Role Overview

The Manager Structures role involves overseeing and integrating structural design aspects throughout the RIBA stages, ensuring compliance with project briefs, budgets, and technical standards. This position requires managing Structural Design Consultants, leading design reviews, and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of high-quality, efficient, and constructible designs.

Key Responsibilities

Project Collaboration: Work with the Development Design team to define the Project Brief and ensure that the structural design aligns with the project budget and overall vision.

Consultant Management: Lead interactions with Structural Design Consultants and sub-consultants, ensuring their work adheres to the Project Brief, Programme, and Budget.

Design Process Oversight: Manage the structural design process, ensuring deliverables are on time, high-quality, well-coordinated, and technically sound.

Stakeholder Coordination: Manage inputs from stakeholders, implement Design Freezes, and resolve any conflicts or overlaps in the design activities of the consultants.

Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC): Champion QA/QC processes for structural designs, ensuring consistent and high-quality design reviews, and that consultants respond appropriately to comments.

Leadership in Design Review: Lead the structural design review process, ensuring compliance with technical and statutory requirements, and that designs are fit for purpose, constructible, and operable.

Value Engineering: Identify and evaluate opportunities for Value Engineering to optimize designs and ensure technical and budgetary efficiency.

Profile Requirements

Experience: A highly experienced structural or civil engineer with a minimum of 8 years of relevant post-qualification experience.

Leadership Skills: Proven track record in managing complex structural design projects, particularly through RIBA stages 2, 3, and 4, ensuring alignment with project briefs, budgets, and technical standards.

Technical Proficiency: Deep understanding of local and international codes, UAE regulatory processes, and quality assurance/quality control measures.

Digital Fluency: Skilled in advancing digital aspirations in design, with strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Value Engineering: Ability to lead design reviews, resolve conflicts, and optimize designs through Value Engineering.
