Job Description

Job Purpose:

To strategically lead and innovate learning and engagement initiatives across QVMAG, developing dynamic public and educational programs that enhance audience experience, drive community engagement, and support the museum's strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Program Leadership

Develop and implement comprehensive learning and engagement strategies

Design innovative public and educational programs across multiple platforms

Ensure programs are responsive to audience needs and cultural sector trends

Align program initiatives with QVMAG's mission and strategic vision

Team Management and Development

Lead, mentor, and coach the learning and engagement team

Foster a collaborative and high-performance team culture

Support professional development and skill enhancement

Implement effective performance management processes

Program Delivery and Innovation

Oversee delivery of on-site, off-site, and online programs

Manage Planetarium experience and educational offerings

Develop creative and engaging learning experiences

Implement cutting-edge educational theories and museum practices

Audience Development

Design programs to grow and diversify QVMAG's audience base

Implement audience research and engagement strategies

Create targeted programs for different demographic groups

Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness

Collaboration and Partnerships

Build strategic partnerships with educational institutions

Collaborate with internal departments and external stakeholders

Represent QVMAG in professional networks and forums

Support cross-departmental initiatives

Essential Qualifications:

Tertiary qualification in Museum Studies, Education, Cultural Heritage, or related field

Minimum 5-7 years of experience in cultural sector program development

Proven track record in designing and delivering educational programs

Advanced understanding of contemporary museum education practices

Strong leadership and team management skills

Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities

Advanced project management capabilities

Desirable Skills and Experience:

Experience in museum or cultural institution learning programs

Understanding of diverse educational methodologies

Digital program development expertise

Knowledge of audience engagement strategies

Experience with Planetarium or science communication programs
