Responsibilities:
Our newest opportunities are for a Lead Structural Engineer to join our award-winning Design Division based in Amman, Jordan. This position is responsible for leading structural projects, scheduling, planning, developing designs and specifications, and mentoring junior engineers.
We envisage success in this role to include:
At CD and/or SD stage, ensuring that appropriate alternative structural concepts are proposed, tested, Value Engineered, and comply with all project and code requirements.
Discussing and agreeing with the Project Principal on appropriate analysis modeling strategies and software for use on the project.
Identifying requirements for specialist inputs and ensuring their timely incorporation in the structural design, (e.g., wind tunnel, geotechnical/foundation engineering, façade engineering, PT/PS concrete design, etc.).
Carrying out design reviews at appropriate intervals during the design process.
Ensuring structural designs prepared achieve the following minimum criteria: safety, durability, serviceability, functionality, economic efficiency, and compliance with international codes.
Implementing the structural department's QMS and ensuring effective fulfillment of assigned QMS functions.
Monitoring departmental project progress and reporting to the Director of Structural Engineering / Deputy HOD on time and/or man-hour over-runs.
Recommending personnel requirements for projects to the Director of Structural Engineering / Deputy HOD.
Providing feedback on staff competencies and performance.
Solving technical difficulties for projects with new challenges.
Assisting in maintaining up-to-date software, codes, standards, design methods, etc., and disseminating new information through the department.
Ensuring a positive professional attitude in the department's dealings with other design disciplines, clients, and project team members.
Performing the role of Project Lead on one or multiple projects.
Requirements:
To be successful in this dynamic opportunity, your career journey to date should include:
A minimum of 15 years of post-graduation work experience.
A Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering.
Basic knowledge of financial terms and principles.
Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office Suite, including MS Project.
Ability to use structural analysis and design software such as STAAD, ROBOT, ETABS, SAFE, ADAPT, AutoCAD, and REVIT.
Knowledgeable in concrete and steel structures design.
Experience in Post-Tension design is an advantage.
Working knowledge of American Design codes.
Membership in a recognized Association/Institution of Engineers.
Preference for candidates with Dubai or Abu Dhabi municipality licenses.
