Position Overview:

The Abu Dhabi Stem Cells Center (ADSCC) is seeking experienced Inpatient & Outpatient Medical Coders to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidates will have a solid background in medical coding with expertise in Diagnosis-Related Group (DRG) for inpatient coders. This role requires a meticulous attention to detail and a comprehensive understanding of medical terminology, coding guidelines, and healthcare regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Medical Coding:

Accurately assign and sequence ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes for diagnoses, procedures, and services based on medical record documentation.

Ensure all coding is compliant with federal regulations and guidelines.

2. DRG Expertise:

For inpatient coders: Utilize DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) systems to classify hospital cases and determine payment levels.

Review and ensure the accuracy of DRG assignments.

3. Documentation Review:

Analyze patient medical records to identify all pertinent diagnoses and procedures.

Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify diagnosis and documentation to ensure accurate coding.

4. Data Entry:

Enter coded data into electronic health record (EHR) systems and other databases as required.

Ensure accuracy and completeness of entered data.

5. Compliance and Audits:

Participate in regular coding audits to ensure adherence to coding guidelines and accuracy.

Stay updated with changes in coding standards, healthcare regulations, and payer requirements.

6. Continuous Improvement:

Attend regular training and professional development opportunities to maintain coding certification and enhance coding skills.

Provide feedback to clinical staff to improve documentation practices.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, Medical Coding, or a related field.

Certification as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or equivalent.

3-5 years of medical coding experience, with a focus on inpatient and outpatient settings.

Proven experience with DRG systems for inpatient coders.

Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.

Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) systems.

Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
