Job Description

As an HSE Engineer at Khatib & Alami, you will be a crucial part of the supervision services team. Your primary role will be to review and ensure compliance with contractors' Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) plans, aligning them with local regulations and client requirements. You will conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure contractors and subcontractors adhere to approved HSE plans, thus safeguarding labor and property on site. Additionally, you will prepare periodic HSE performance reports, highlight non-conformances, and propose corrective actions in coordination with the contractors’ HSE teams.

Responsibilities

Review and Compliance: Assess and provide feedback on contractors' HSE plans to ensure they meet local codes and regulations.

Risk Assessment: Evaluate the risk assessment and analysis sections of the contractor’s method statements.

HSE Implementation: Implement HSE policies and procedures on site, coordinating with contractors and their HSE representatives.

Audits and Inspections: Conduct HSE audits and inspections in line with corporate policies and procedures.

Safety Instructions: Ensure site safety instructions are executed before new work begins and when new staff arrives.

Monitoring and Reporting: Monitor HSE practices on site, document safety defects, and prepare periodic HSE performance reports. Recommend initiatives and mitigation measures to address non-compliance.

Incident Investigation: Conduct investigations into accidents and incidents occurring on site.

Progress Reporting: Provide input to the Planning Engineer for project progress reports.

HSE Audits: Cooperate with HSE audits conducted by the Quality & HSE Section as per corporate policies.

Record Keeping: Maintain a comprehensive filing system and records for all HSE-related activities, including meetings, inspections, and monthly reports.

Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.

Certification: Certification in HSE is preferred.

Experience: Minimum of 5 years in an HSE role on construction or construction supervision projects, with essential experience in infrastructure projects related to bridges and roads.

Skills: Proficiency in HSE audit activities, resolving HSE non-conformances, and understanding construction supervision services and HSE best practices.

Regulations Knowledge: Familiarity with local HSE regulations.

Attention to Detail: Strong focus on detail with good communication and presentation skills.

Interpersonal Skills: Effective interpersonal skills, with proficiency in both English and Arabic (spoken and written).
