Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Head of Department (HOD) for Science to provide academic leadership and manage the science department at GIHS Dubai. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in science education, proven leadership abilities, and a commitment to educational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Provide strategic leadership for the Science Department, developing and implementing departmental policies aligned with school objectives

Oversee curriculum planning, development, and implementation across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics

Lead and mentor a team of science teachers, fostering professional development and maintaining high teaching standards

Monitor and evaluate teaching quality through classroom observations, feedback sessions, and performance reviews

Manage departmental resources, including laboratory facilities, equipment, and budget

Ensure compliance with safety regulations in science laboratories and during practical sessions

Analyze student performance data and implement strategies for continuous improvement

Collaborate with other department heads and school leadership to enhance cross-curricular initiatives

Organize and oversee science-related events, competitions, and enrichment activities

Qualifications & Requirements

Master's degree in Science Education or related field (Ph.D. preferred)

Minimum 5 years of teaching experience in secondary science education

Minimum 3 years of leadership experience in an educational setting

Strong knowledge of international curricula (IB/IGCSE/CBSE)

Excellent understanding of current educational trends and best practices in science education

Proven track record of improving student achievement and departmental performance

Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Experience with educational technology and digital learning platforms

Valid teaching license/certification
