Job Summary:

The Head of Procurement will lead the procurement department and oversee all aspects of procurement activities. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in the Middle East, particularly within a reputable main contractor, and possess exceptional communication and negotiation skills.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Management:

Lead and manage a procurement department with 32 staff members.

Report directly to the Group Commercial Director and General Manager.

Liaise with project teams and manage all aspects from pre to post-award.

Procurement Operations:

Handle procurement of labor, sub-contracts, and material packages with values ranging from $100,000 USD to $5 million USD.

Ensure alignment with company standards, project requirements, and budget constraints.

Drive value through strategic negotiation while maintaining strong supplier relationships.

Performance Management:

Manage budgets and costs effectively.

Monitor and evaluate the performance of procurement activities and staff.

Implement best practices to enhance procurement processes.

Client Interaction:

Maintain strong links with government departments, developers, and joint venture partners.

Engage in client-facing activities to represent the company’s interests.

Qualifications and Experience:

Experience:

Minimum of 5 years of experience in the MENA region in a procurement leadership role.

15-20 years of post-graduate experience in procurement.

Proven track record in a similar level position within a reputable main contractor.

Education:

Degree educated, preferably in a relevant field.

Skills:

Exceptional communication and negotiation skills.

Strong leadership and team management capabilities.

Ability to handle budgets, costs, and performance management effectively.

Critical Factors:

Experience in managing procurement activities for diverse projects, including Buildings, Marine, Civil Engineering, Landscaping, Asphalt, Oil & Gas, Plant Hire & MEP.

Demonstrated ability to construct a proper introduction to NSR Associates.

Willingness to relocate to Bahrain and commit to the role full-time.
