Job Overview: We are also seeking a Fresh Food Buyer / Category Buyer – Fresh Food to strengthen our procurement department. The ideal candidate will have in-depth experience in sourcing and buying perishable items including fruits, vegetables, dairy, meat, and bakery items. You will ensure the freshness, quality, and variety of products available across all AJMAN Coop outlets.

Roles and Responsibilities: You will be tasked with developing and maintaining a strong network of local and international suppliers. Responsibilities include price negotiations, securing product availability, monitoring freshness standards, and collaborating with the supply chain to maintain cold chain logistics. You will also manage demand forecasting and introduce new fresh product lines based on market trends.

Vendor and Product Quality Management: Ensuring the procurement of premium-quality perishable items while adhering to safety standards will be a key responsibility. You’ll coordinate with QA teams and conduct supplier audits to ensure health and safety compliance across the entire product lifecycle from sourcing to shelf.

Customer and Market Insight: You’ll stay up-to-date with market trends, customer preferences, and seasonal product demand. Your insights will shape the product assortment in our fresh food departments and allow for the introduction of high-demand, in-season goods that resonate with our customer base.

Cost Control and Waste Management: As a Fresh Food Buyer, minimizing waste and optimizing shelf life through effective rotation and planning will be essential. Your success in negotiating cost-effective supplier deals and establishing flexible delivery schedules will directly contribute to profitability.

Tech Savvy & Reporting: You should be proficient in using ERP or purchasing software for real-time inventory tracking and vendor coordination. Generating reports on sales, stock movements, and pricing trends will be a routine part of your workflow to help identify and resolve inefficiencies.
