Job Overview: AJMAN Coop is currently hiring a Food Buyer / Category Buyer – Food to join our growing procurement team in Ajman. As a leading hypermarket retailer in the UAE, we are looking for professionals with deep knowledge in food product buying, supplier negotiations, and category management. The selected candidate will be responsible for optimizing the food buying process and contributing to the profitability and growth of our food segment.
Roles and Responsibilities: Your key duties will include sourcing food products, negotiating prices and contracts with vendors, ensuring consistent product availability, and analyzing sales trends to make data-driven purchasing decisions. You’ll work in close coordination with suppliers, warehouse teams, and store managers to ensure timely delivery and replenishment of inventory across all retail locations.
Supplier and Inventory Management: The ideal candidate will manage the supplier network for all food-related products, assess supplier performance, and monitor order fulfillment. You will be responsible for stock level control, waste reduction strategies, and maintaining an effective supply chain that meets quality and safety standards.
Pricing and Promotions: You’ll oversee category pricing strategies, benchmark market prices, and ensure margins are in line with business expectations. Additionally, you will collaborate with the marketing team to launch in-store and seasonal promotions while ensuring optimal product mix, visibility, and customer appeal.
Compliance and Product Quality: Ensuring product quality, freshness, and compliance with UAE health and safety regulations will be critical. You must also ensure proper documentation and product traceability. A thorough understanding of food handling protocols and regulatory requirements is necessary.
Analytical and Strategic Thinking: You will be expected to use purchasing software and analytical tools to track product performance, analyze buying patterns, forecast demand, and suggest ways to optimize category performance. Your analytical mindset will contribute to operational improvements and cost control.
