Purpose of the Role:

The Finance Controller will oversee and manage the financial operations of the organization, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strategic alignment with business objectives. This role is vital for maintaining financial stability, implementing effective financial controls, providing timely and accurate financial reporting, and contributing to the overall financial strategy to support the organization's growth.

Roles & Responsibilities

Strategy:

Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with organizational goals.

Provide insights for strategic decision-making through in-depth financial analysis.

Contribute to the development of risk management strategies and ensure compliance.

Collaborate with the tax division to ensure compliance and prepare tax return schedules.

Research technical accounting issues, ensuring adherence to accounting standards.

Coordinate the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts.

Direct the timely control, maintenance, and submission of statutory and management accounts, ensuring compliance.

Report variances in budget and financial forecasts for strategic decision-making.

Business Growth:

Drive financial stability and efficiency to support overall business growth.

Analyze financial trends, risks, and opportunities for informed decision-making.

Allocate financial resources strategically to support key initiatives.

Approve invoices for payment and monitor outstanding checks for effective cash flow management.

Manage all accounting operations, including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Counsel, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting, and Revenue Recognition.

Create annual projections and update them monthly with actual figures for effective financial planning.

Client Experience:

Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting to internal and external stakeholders.

Address financial queries and concerns, fostering positive relationships.

Coordinate with auditors and provide necessary documentation for audits.

Prepare and publish monthly financial statements for transparent reporting.

Review attached documentation for check approval and accuracy, ensuring transparency.

Project Management:

Implement financial controls and procedures for contract/project optimization.

Monitor financial aspects of contracts/projects, ensuring adherence to budgets.

Maintain the company's bank balance and create annual projections for effective financial planning.

Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reports to comply with legal requirements.

Reconcile bank statements and monthly financial reports for accurate financial management.

Team Management:

Oversee financial teams, providing leadership and guidance.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams for effective financial management.

Direct and oversee accounting operations, providing leadership in Billing, A/R, A/P, etc.

Coordinate with team members to report variances in budgets and financial forecasts.

Desired Candidate Profile

Qualification / Experience:

Education: Minimum bachelor’s degree in accountancy and finance, with a business management/commercial qualification. Chartered Financial Analyst or Chartered Accountant preferred.

Experience: 8-15 years of in-depth experience in the preparation of monthly accounts and reports by accounting standards, including revenue and expense accounts preparation. At least 2-3 years in a managerial role.

Knowledge & Key Skills:

Proficiency in financial systems, including general ledger, JD Edwards, IFBIS, MIMS, and Windows-based computer software.

Strong understanding of commercial and contractual issues with excellent negotiation skills.

Demonstrated ability to motivate and lead teams, driving change in business processes and performance management.

Proficiency in IT, including Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint), email, and databases.

Problem-solving skills, taking ownership of issues, and finding creative solutions.

Strong analytical skills for interpreting complex financial data and making strategic recommendations.

In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements and the ability to ensure compliance with financial operations.

Expertise in identifying, assessing, and mitigating financial risks to safeguard the organization.

Ability to contribute to strategic decision-making through comprehensive financial analysis.

Experience in developing and implementing financial strategies aligned with organizational goals.

Proficiency in budget preparation, forecasting, and variance analysis.

Excellent interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.
