EAL Coordinator

Job Description

Role Overview: The EAL (English as an Additional Language) Coordinator will oversee the planning, delivery, and evaluation of English language support programs within the school. This position plays a key role in ensuring non-native English-speaking students achieve language proficiency to fully participate in the British Curriculum.

Program Management: The coordinator will develop and implement EAL programs tailored to individual and group needs, ensuring compliance with IGCSE/British Curriculum standards. They will work closely with teachers to integrate language support into all subject areas.

Student Support: The EAL Coordinator will assess language proficiency levels of new and existing students, create personalized learning plans, and monitor progress through regular assessments and feedback sessions.

Staff Collaboration: This role involves training and mentoring teachers on effective EAL strategies, providing resources, and ensuring all staff members are equipped to support EAL learners in their classrooms.

Parental Engagement: The EAL Coordinator will maintain open communication with parents, providing updates on student progress, suggesting strategies for home support, and addressing concerns related to language learning.

Data and Reporting: Accurate record-keeping is essential. The coordinator will track student progress, compile reports for school leadership, and recommend adjustments to programs based on data analysis.
