About Us

My decision to become a civil engineer was heavily influenced by the events surrounding Dubai and the region during my youth. It was the age of independence throughout the region and the mood was one of optimism and excitement. The leadership of the time inspired a whole generation with their vision and development plans. And as a young man with a youthful ambition; I wanted to be a part of the growth story that was about to unfold.

I had a desire to contribute to the building of the region and to have a tangible connection to the development of the region. With some excitement, and a little trepidation, I traveled to the UK in the 1960's where I studied and graduated in Civil Engineering in West Sussex. My first job was with a large consultant; Halcrow in London. This gave me a strong grounding in the traditions and ethics of good civil engineering.

I eventually returned to the UAE to work for the Ministry of Public Works where one of my first endeavors was the construction of Fujairah Port. It was inevitable that I subsequently invested in my own design consultancy firm. The development of U.A.E and the region has been nothing short of spectacular and I have had the privilege of witnessing it first hand and being a part of it. This has made me a firm believer in construction projects that have a positive economic and social impact.

Over the several decades since Al Gurg Consultants' inception; the company has successfully designed and supervised construction projects for Governments and private developers. I and the rest of the Al Gurg team look forward to having the privilege of continuing our tradition of providing a meaningful contribution to the development stories of our clients and the region.
