About the Position

We are seeking a warm, knowledgeable, and experienced Chief Executive Officer to lead our organization, oversee operational management, and drive our strategic vision forward while growing our team of staff and freelancers.

Position Details

Working Pattern: 4 days (30 hours) per week, flexible

Competitive Salary

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

Lead organizational development and collaborative strategic planning

Deliver and implement strategic vision

Act as organizational spokesperson

Sustain and develop strategic partnerships

Champion organizational values throughout operations

Operational & Financial Management

Oversee organizational budgets and financial management

Manage grant funding and compliance

Ensure health and safety and safeguarding protocols

Maintain administrative, data monitoring, and IT systems

Lead assessment of premises and facilities needs

People Management

Lead and manage team of 2 part-time employees

Oversee approximately 5 freelancers and 10 volunteers

Champion collective care and workplace inclusivity

Ensure clear direction, motivation, and skill development

Implement HR best practices

Manage freelancer and consultant contracts

Fundraising & Development

Write funding bids and manage grant reporting

Implement funding strategy

Manage external fundraiser relationships

Maintain relationships with current funders

Governance

Develop and implement organizational policies

Manage organizational risk

Ensure governance and contract compliance

Provide support and guidance to the Board

Required Qualifications & Experience

Essential

Strategic leadership experience in the cultural sector

Proven track record in organizational budget and grant management

Knowledge of employment law, HR, EDI, safeguarding, and health & safety

Experience in policy development and implementation

Understanding of governance principles and Board relationships

Demonstrated success in fund procurement and funder reporting

Strong team management skills with focus on workplace inclusivity

Experience in maintaining strategic relationships

Desirable

Experience in premises needs-assessment

Understanding of socially engaged arts practice

Freelance contract management experience

Festival management experience

Lived experience of our communities
