Job Description
Grainger Canada is looking for a proactive Branch Team Lead to support branch leadership and directly influence customer retention and financial results at one of its branches. As one of Canada's largest distributors of industrial, safety, and fastener products, backed by the strength of its parent company W.W. Grainger, Inc., Grainger Canada offers a hands-on leadership opportunity for someone who thrives on operational excellence, continuous improvement, and building strong team member relationships. This is an excellent opportunity for a customer service and sales professional ready to step into a supporting leadership role within a well-established branch network.
In this role, you will support branch leadership in a facility with 2 to 10 team members alongside the Branch Manager and Supervisor, and provide peer-to-peer coaching to support the continued development of skills and confidence of team members. You will delegate and assign duties based on workload variance, provide exceptional customer service, and use sound judgement and best practices to resolve customer concerns. You will support the branch team with the preparation of customer quotes, orders, and returns, as well as company initiatives and projects, and foster open communication between internal business partners including Sales, Branch Network, Customer Service Centers, and Onsite Service teams. Facilitating team member onboarding and ongoing training, maintaining well-rounded product knowledge, assisting in driving key operational metrics around customer satisfaction, sales, safety, and operational improvements, suggesting and implementing process enhancements, ensuring team compliance with regulatory issues and company policies, and supporting warehouse functions as required will also form part of your responsibilities.
The ideal candidate holds a high school diploma or equivalent, preferably, and brings one to three years of customer service and sales experience in a related field; previous leadership experience is a definite asset. You bring a passion for customer service, sales, and people development, with the ability to energize others and work within high-performing teams. You can adapt to shifting demands and competing priorities, understand and articulate the vision of Grainger to all team members, and bring proficient computer skills. The ability to safely learn and operate powered industrial equipment, an understanding of local customer and market dynamics, and a valid driver's license with a reliable vehicle (if driving is required) are all preferred.
This role may require attending customer sites and adhering to applicable health and safety legislation, including the use of personal protective equipment such as a hard hat, steel-toed safety boots, and a close-fitted N95 mask where required; some customer sites may also require alcohol and drug screening for on-site contractors and vendors. The role involves continuous standing and walking, and the ability to lift up to 25 lbs unassisted on a regular basis.
Grainger Canada offers medical, dental, vision, and prescription drug coverage, paid time off and up to 12 company holidays per year, life insurance coverage including spousal and dependent life insurance, an Employee Family Assistance Program, a Registered Retirement Savings Plan and Defined Contribution Pension Plan, an Educational and Professional Membership Fee Assistance program, and employee discounts and other perks.
