Job Description / Role:

Khatib & Alami is seeking an experienced Associate Principle Engineer to lead the design teams during design delivery and manage design activities for water resources projects. The role involves working closely with Project Managers to review and validate design deliverables, conduct design value engineering, and ensure the proper implementation of adjustments and revisions.

Main Responsibilities:

Design Leadership: Lead design teams in delivering water resources projects, working closely with Project Managers and providing key support in client interactions.

Design Review & Validation: Oversee the review and validation of design deliverables, ensuring compliance with project requirements.

Design Value Engineering: Coordinate with the Project Manager and design teams to conduct value engineering and implement necessary design adjustments.

Client & Project Management Support: Support the Project Manager in managing budget, schedule, client communications, technical aspects, and quality management activities.

Industry Engagement: Stay updated with the latest trends in water resources design and represent the firm in the professional engineering and water resources community.

Requirements:

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering, preferably Civil or Environmental. A Master’s Degree or higher in Water Resources Engineering or equivalent is preferred.

Certification: Chartered Professional Engineering certification or equivalent is preferred.

Skills:

In-depth knowledge of water resources design and principles, particularly in the Middle East.

Understanding of international engineering standards and codes.

Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Experience:

Overall: 18+ years of industry experience in engineering design, particularly in water resources.

Specific: 10+ years of experience in design with a top-tier regional/multinational engineering consultancy firm. Experience in large and complex water resources design projects is essential.

Technical Skills:

Advanced knowledge of hydrology, hydraulics, and software tools like Modflow, WMS, MIKE, SMS, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, and ArcGIS.

Experience in river engineering, fluvial geomorphology, environmental impact assessments, surface water monitoring, and runoff water management.

Strong analytical skills and time/resource management capabilities.

Ability to review and manage junior staff design work.

Experience in preparing technical design reports, tender documents, and design drawings.
