Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced arts professional to manage the operations of Warnayaka Art and Culture Aboriginal Corporation. The successful candidate will work closely with a board of nine directors to lead this culturally significant institution while ensuring its continued growth and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
Provide strategic leadership and operational management of the art centre
Work collaboratively with the board of directors to implement organizational vision and objectives
Manage financial operations and maintain relationships with key funding bodies
Oversee the air-conditioned artist studio and support Warlpiri staff
Develop and implement projects that combine cultural practice, artistic expression, and skills development
Foster audience engagement and promote artist development
Ensure compliance with ORIC regulations and charitable status requirements
Maintain strong community relationships and cultural awareness
Manage facility operations and maintenance
Coordinate art sales and marketing initiatives
Required Qualifications
Demonstrated experience in arts management or cultural organization leadership
Strong understanding of the Indigenous art sector
Proven track record in achieving positive artistic, economic, and social outcomes
High-level communication and interpersonal skills
Experience in financial management and grant administration
Understanding of Indigenous cultural rights and economic independence
Ability to work effectively in a cross-cultural environment
Demonstrated capacity to live and work in a remote setting

Lajamanu Community (formerly Hooker Creek)
900km south of Darwin
580km southwest of Katherine
Remote location with basic community facilities including store, health centre, school, and police station
Remuneration Package
Competitive base salary (commensurate with experience)
