Role Overview:

The Analyst plays a pivotal role in supporting all aspects of investment management activities within the funds under management. This includes fundraising, deal sourcing, capital structuring, investment execution, portfolio management, and investment exit strategies. As an integral member of the team, the Analyst actively supports ongoing fundraising activities and collaborates closely with senior officers on a variety of critical projects.

Client Overview:

The client is a Private Equity (PE) fund based in Qatar, with a strong focus on the underserved African continent. The fund has substantial access to capital, positioning it to seize opportunities in this high-potential market.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Modeling and Valuation:

Develop and refine detailed financial models for forecasting and company valuations using methods such as Discounted Cash Flow (DCF).

Acquire and analyze information on potential investments and the competitive landscape to ensure accurate valuations and informed investment decisions.

Market and Industry Analysis:

Monitor and analyze evolving market and industry trends, particularly in the assigned regions and market players.

Update in-house databases to support deal sourcing activities and establish relevant strategic partnerships.

Due Diligence and Compliance:

Participate in due diligence efforts, including reviewing legal documents, conducting Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) assessments, financial analysis, and supporting compliance workstreams.

Identify key risks and opportunities associated with potential investments.

Investment Vehicle Setup:

Conduct preliminary analysis of potential jurisdictions for setting up investment vehicles, considering tax implications and investment protection aspects.

Documentation and Reporting:

Assist in drafting presentations and memoranda for the Investment Committee (IC), investors, strategic partners, and other stakeholders such as financial institutions and insurance providers.

Support team discussions and investor meetings by preparing briefing materials for senior members and taking minutes to track action items.

Analytical Support and Team Collaboration:

Provide analytical support and insights to senior team members and act as a liaison between the team and other verticals within the company.

Participate in mandatory trainings and ensure adherence to the company’s internal policies.

Fundraising and Investor Relations:

Support fundraising efforts and investor relations activities, including assessing and analyzing the profile, status, performance, and results of investors and partners.

Assist in building and maintaining relationships with existing and potential Limited Partners (LPs) and co-investors.

Monitor evolving fundraising trends, particularly in assigned regions, and update in-house databases to enhance the team’s impact.

Additional Responsibilities:

Take on additional responsibilities as requested by senior management to contribute to the overall success of the team.

Requirements:

Experience:

Minimum of 1-2 years of relevant experience in private equity and/or investment banking.

Proven track record in the investment management domain.

Education:

MSc in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related discipline.

Skills:

Strong financial acumen with excellent analytical skills and high intellectual curiosity.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, complex formulas).

Exceptional command of English, both written and spoken; knowledge of French is a plus.

Strong oral and written communication skills with great attention to detail.

Team-oriented, collaborative, and capable of adapting to an international environment.

Ethical judgment and integrity in all business dealings.
