Job Description

Position Overview

We are seeking a passionate and organized Academy Administrator to support our mission of empowering children and young people through the arts. This hybrid role, based in Stockwell with flexibility for remote work, offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the growth of AkomaAsa Arts while developing your career in the arts sector.

Key Responsibilities

Create and maintain administrative systems and processes for the Academy

Manage social media presence across multiple platforms (Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube, TikTok)

Serve as the first point of contact for students, parents, guardians, and the community

Coordinate communications with teaching assistants, volunteers, and program participants

Support Academy performances, projects, and events administration

Manage Academy email accounts and respond to inquiries

Draft and distribute meeting agendas, minutes, and termly newsletters

Coordinate online and in-person meetings

Support the Director and team with additional administrative tasks as needed

Required Qualifications

Minimum 1 year administrative experience

Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills

Experience working with children and young people

Strong organizational skills with ability to multitask and meet deadlines

Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel)

Experience with social media platforms

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Adaptable and flexible work approach

Desired Qualifications

Experience working in the arts sector

Budget management experience

Knowledge of Health and Safety practices

Understanding of safeguarding practices and procedures

Experience creating and monitoring evaluation questionnaires

Proficiency with Adobe Reader

Experience with MailChimp or similar email marketing tools

Additional Requirements

Must obtain an enhanced disclosure from the Disclosure Barring Service

Interest in the arts, particularly Western and African Diaspora dance and performing arts

Ability to offer flexible working days/hours

About Us

AkomaAsa Arts is a multi-disciplinary arts and cultural education empowerment organisation that has been running for over 10 years. The Academy offers dance, music, drama and performance training through two arts educational programmes: African Diaspora Dance forms & Music and Performing Arts. These programmes are made accessible to children and young people (CYP) aged 6- 16+.
